Murphy Surpasses Fundraising Benchmark, Ready to Continue Servant Leadership E-mail

(OKLAHOMA CITY, OK) -- Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner Dana Murphy released fundraising numbers today, surpassing a significant benchmark in her campaign for re-election.

"Today, I am pleased to announce that I have raised over $310,000 in my bid for re-election to statewide office," said Murphy. "I have received contributions from across the state from a wide spectrum of individuals and that tells me the people are satisfied with the job I have done, and when re-elected, will continue to do."

Murphy has put thousands of miles on her personal vehicle at her own expense since election to the Corporation Commission, traveling across the state to work with rate payers, consumers, industry leaders, oil and gas innovators and utility companies to ensure Oklahomans have a good balance with their Corporation Commission.

"The budget wasn't available from the Commission to pay for these trips, but I promised voters in the last election that I would bring more transparency to the office and take Commission business to the people. To keep that promise, I decided to hold town meetings and respond to Oklahomans throughout the state on my own," Murphy said. "I'm glad I did it, because I learned a lot about what Oklahomans want and don't want in the difficult areas the Commission deals with."

"Oklahomans elected me to do the tough job of providing a watchful eye over regulatory matters at the Commission to make sure rate payers, mineral owners, utilities and energy companies all have a voice," Murphy said. "Oklahomans have seen that I am often a voice of reason, of balance and know that I will always try to do the right thing. This is made clear by the vast number of Oklahomans involved in my campaign for re-election."

In addition to her exceptionally busy schedule at the Corporation Commission, Murphy was tapped to be a part of a natural gas conference at the George W. Bush Institute in Dallas, Texas. "Natural Gas Nation" explored the economic, environmental, and national-security implications of North America's increased natural gas supply and brought together leading authorities in energy, academia and public policy --- including Oklahoma's Corporation Commissioner Dana Murphy.

"We have had an exciting couple years at the Corporation Commission and I fully expect my second term to not only be exciting, but immeasurably challenging. Oklahoma and the nation are facing critical times for energy policy," said Murphy. "We need experience, knowledge, education and consistent leadership to ensure Oklahoma continues to be an energy innovator and leader as we move forward to energy independence."
