(Oklahoma City, Oklahoma):
Oklahoma Republican Party Chairman Gary Jones today announced that Dana
Murphy, the Republican nominee for the short term on Oklahoma's
Corporation Commission, has widened her lead over Democrat Jim Roth.
News 9's
Oklahoma General Election - Week 2 poll shows Dana Murphy leading 45.0%
to 32.6%, a lead of 12.4%. Dana Murphy had an 8.6% lead in the Week 1
poll.
"Dana
Murphy's experience makes her the clear choice for Corporation
Commission," Jones said. "She has experience working in the industries
regulated by the Commission; she was honored as Corporation Commission
Co-Employee of the Year and with the Public Servant Award while serving
as an Administrative Law Judge on the Commission's staff."
"In
addition to her six years working for the Commission, Dana is a
professional geologist and, as an attorney, has represented small
producers and mineral owners," Jones continued. "Her experience in
field gives her a wealth of knowledge unrivaled in her race."
"Dana's
opponent is fond of saying that Governor Henry picked him for the
Commission because he has no experience in the field," Jones
explained. "The polls show that Oklahomans know that Dana Murphy is
the experienced candidate in the race and choose her for that reason."
"Dana Murphy's experiences as a geologist, representing producers as
their attorney and working as an administrative law judge for the
Corporation Commission will allow her to hit the ground running the
first day," Jones concluded.
