Tackling Complex Issues Requires Collaboration |

Growing up in a family involved in farming and ranching, I learned very early the value of the Boy Scout motto "Be prepared." Indeed, what might have appeared to some as simply my family's ability to react quickly and decisively to changing circumstances and conditions was, in fact, often the result of careful preparation.
Preparation is certainly the key when it comes to the complex issues the Oklahoma Corporation Commission faces on a daily basis. While the commission strives to balance the needs of all the stakeholders in a given matter, this task is made all the more difficult by the fact that the rules of the game can change even while the game is under way. It's one thing to hit a moving target; it's quite another to hit a target that's both moving and changing.
