excerpt
Dana Murphy is one of two Republican candidates for the Oklahoma Corporation
Commission. You will see them on your ballot in this statewide race. The winner
of this primary will go on to face Democrat Jim Roth in the statewide race in
November so Democrats here in Edmond will not have a vote on this race until
then. So, all six of the Democrats in Edmond can sit this race out for July 29.
Just kidding and don’t send me emails on that wise crack. I got the joke from a
Democrat.
Murphy is our choice for this primary. She is running against a guy
named Rob Johnson. He has served in the State Legislature and was recognized by
Lance Cargill. You remember Lance Cargill from the headlines a few months ago
over not filing tax reports. Johnson’s most notable activity to us during this
campaign was that he was the one who raised some sort of stink over how Murphy
signed in when she filed to run for office. I can’t remember if he was upset
because the “L” in her middle name was in or out. Either way, it was a petty
notion and not becoming of someone wanting to serve in the Corporation
Commission.
Murphy is an Edmond gal. She is qualified for the position about
100 fold. We urge you to send her out of the primary and on to face Jim Roth in
the general election in November. Roth will be a tough opponent and Republicans
will need Murphy on their side if they hope to win that seat.
