Growing up in a family involved in farming and ranching, I learned very early the value of the Boy Scout motto "Be prepared." Indeed, what might have appeared to some as simply my family's ability to react quickly and decisively to changing circumstances and conditions was, in fact, often the result of careful preparation.
Preparation is certainly the key when it comes to the complex issues the Oklahoma Corporation Commission faces on a daily basis. While the commission strives to balance the needs of all the stakeholders in a given matter, this task is made all the more difficult by the fact that the rules of the game can change even while the game is under way. It's one thing to hit a moving target; it's quite another to hit a target that's both moving and changing.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner Dana Murphy's to-do list is a tad longer since she became chairwoman of the body in January.
"People call you more; they look to you more," Murphy said. "But I enjoy that."
Murphy calculates that she's traveled 25,000 miles and attended more than 600 public events across the state since she took office in 2008, all on her own dime.

Dear Friends,
After the recent blizzard, I bet it is hard for most Oklahomans to believe that Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow today on Ground Hog Day, so spring is just around the corner! I hope all of you have stayed warm and safe during the past few days. My thoughts, prayers and gratitude go out to all those who have worked long, hard hours to take care of those in need and to keep our roads open and the power and services we need available.

Dear Friends,
I can hardly believe it is almost Christmas as 2010 seemed to fly by for me. As most of you know, I was re-elected to a full six year term on July 27, 2010 since I had no general election opponent. I was incredibly blessed and happy that I could help some of our other great GOP candidates in their general election races.

Dear Friends,
Like me, you are probably looking forward to election night whether for the end of the campaign election season or to see your favorite candidate win on November 2 or some combination of reasons including these! As most of you know, I won a full six year term by winning my primary race in July and will not appear on the ballot because I had no general election opponent. I am so grateful!

Dear Friends,
I cannot thank you enough for a big victory last night! Thanks for your votes, your effort, your encouragement and your financial support to my re-election campaign. As most of you know, there will be no general election, so I have now won a full six term! My statewide race was the only one without a general election and after 4 incredibly challenging races starting in 2002, and finishing this last one, I look forward to a break from my own campaigning...(However, I will not be going far as I plan to help Republican candidates and the Oklahoma Republican Party for the November elections!)

Most contested elections are decided in November, but a cluster of Oklahoma races this year will be settled in primary (or perhaps runoff) balloting.
Incumbent Republican Dana Murphy, who defeated Jim Roth in a close race to finish an unexpired term at the Corporation Commission two years ago, is heavily favored to defeat Tod Yeager. She is likely to retain her job at the agency. No Democrat filed, so Tuesday's election will determine the victor.

Dear Friends,
Around the corner are two very important things for me, my Mother's birthday on July 26 and the Primary Election on July 27! I look forward to celebrating with her, a celebration I hope will continue from July 26 to July 27 with a win in the Primary!

Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner Dana Murphy says a new data system is now available to Oklahoma's oil and gas producers that will save them time and money.
"Nowhere is the expression 'time is money' more accurate than in the oil and gas business," Murphy noted. "The new system will allow a number of forms to be filed online, eliminating the time and cost associated with the old paper-filing system. It also allows for fast posting of all data to the OCC's oil and gas well record website, giving the producers access to the data they need in making decisions which can involve millions of dollars."

Dear Friends,
This week seemed one of the busiest ever with many events including those close to home and those across the State! Both fundraising events this week were very successful and helped cap a quarterly fundraising cycle that was terrific, just shy of $180,000. Thanks to so many of you for your generosity and support to help me head into July 27th with lots of momentum!
All three radio commercials are now airing on radio stations across the Oklahoma! You can listen to them right from the website at: http://www.danamurphy.com/radio-ads-murphymedia-64.html

After two years in office, Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner Dana Murphy is asking voters for a full six-year term, and she deserves one.
Educated as a geologist and an attorney and with experience as an administrative law judge for the commission prior to taking office, Murphy was one of the best-prepared commissioners in state history.

Dear Friends,
Needless to say, no matter where I seem to travel in Oklahoma during July these days, the rain is always right there! Not that as a northwestern Oklahoman, I am one to complain about rain, but it certainly adds a few challenges in traveling to events and for organizers of outdoor events to make decisions to cancel or postpone events. I can hardly believe I am ready to roll past the 66,000 mile mark on the Murphy Mobile...how time has flown since the day I started driving this truck in March of 2009!

EDMOND — Corporation Commissioner Dana Murphy said she has kept the three promises she made to voters when she was elected in 2008.
"I promised I would bring more openness and transparency to the commission. I promised I would take the commission out to communities," Murphy said. "And I promised to get to work and bring greater working relationships among myself, the commission and other elected officials."
