Dear Friends,
I can hardly believe it is almost Christmas as 2010 seemed to fly by for me. As most of you know, I was re-elected to a full six year term on July 27, 2010 since I had no general election opponent. I was incredibly blessed and happy that I could help some of our other great GOP candidates in their general election races.
This year, I made Advent a more personal time for me by doing a special weekly devotional and lighting the candle for each week of Advent. For those of you unfamiliar with Advent, it is the time of preparation leading up to celebrating the birth of Christ at Christmas. During this time of preparation, I also began preparing and making specific plans for my full six year term which starts in January. I hope all of our newly elected officials have been making the most of their preparation time as well and will be ready to serve well starting in January. I am excited for all of them!
As recently voted upon by my fellow Commissioners Anthony and Cloud, I was elected to become Chair of the Commission effective January 3, 2011. I am truly looking forward to this new role and continuing the good working relationship that I have with both of them! I have learned so much over this short two year term which causes me to realize how much I still need to learn so I can be my best professionally, personally, physically and of course, spiritually - all so I can best serve all of you and my State! Not a day goes by that I am not incredibly grateful for this opportunity to serve in one of the hardest jobs I have had thus far in my life.
I will be sending out another Murphy Mail after Christmas to remind you about January 10th, the date for the upcoming Inauguration for Governor-elect Mary Fallin and the swearing in ceremony that I will have later that same day to take the special oath for Corporation Commissioner. I hope many of you will be able to attend both events.
My heartfelt prayers and thoughts for a very Merry Christmas to you and your family and especially for our troops serving us here in the U.S. and across the globe. Among the gifts I especially treasure at Christmas - the birth of Christ and the incredible love that God has for us, my family and friends like you, a free nation, good health and the incredible opportunity to serve you for six more years!
Merry Christmas, Your Commissioner, Dana |
