Dear Friends,
Needless to say, no matter where I seem to travel in Oklahoma during July these days, the rain is always right there! Not that as a northwestern Oklahoman, I am one to complain about rain, but it certainly adds a few challenges in traveling to events and for organizers of outdoor events to make decisions to cancel or postpone events. I can hardly believe I am ready to roll past the 66,000 mile mark on the Murphy Mobile...how time has flown since the day I started driving this truck in March of 2009!
I am excited about my new radio commercials! My first commercial will begin airing this week. You can listen to it right from the website at: http://www.danamurphy.com/radio-ads-murphymedia-64.html
The past week was another busy one as - July 5th, it was north to Perry, Oklahoma for a picnic and candidate forum. Due to less than optimal weather conditions, the event was moved inside the National Guard Armory, but that did not seem to dampen the enthusiasm of any in attendance! On July 6th, it was east to Tulsa for the USA Patriots Tea Party and once again, a little damp weather did not rain on the parade of those attending. On July 8th, it was north and west to attend yet another great event sponsored by the Garfield County GOP and the Garfield County GOP Women's group! Wrapping up the week on July 9th, it was south to the Pontotoc County Farm Bureau candidate forum. Needless to say, the time and miles keep racking up along the campaign trail!
You can check out the photos and recent events that I continue to share on my website and on Facebook from events across the state by going to: http://www.danamurphy.com/on-the-trail-mainmenu-32.html
As many of you might recall, a big decision was made on smart meters last week. In contrast to the majority, I favored a more measured approach to the further roll out of smart meters so there would be more oversight and accountability for cost savings, security and privacy issues as well as dealing with other problems that might arise as has occurred in other states. You can still see my comments at: http://www.occeweb.com/divisions/news/2010/07-01-10SMART1.pdf This week will be the hearing on the upcoming wind farm case proposed by OG&E, yet another $300+ million dollar case. You can view filings in the wind farm case at:
http://www.occeweb.com/918-539%20Schedule%20FAQs.pdf I am looking forward to the question and answer session at noon at the Tulsa Petroleum Club on July 15th to provide more information about the upcoming changes in dialing patterns and other information on issues pending at the Commission which will affect Tulsans and Oklahomans across the state.
I appreciate Senator Brian Bingman speaking at my upcoming fundraising reception at the Mayo Hotel in Tulsa at 5:30 on July 15th. I had the pleasure of speaking at an event at the Mayo Hotel earlier this year and I can say that the food and accommodations were terrific! I hope that those of you in the Tulsa area might be able to attend. Cost per person is $150 or per couple is $250. If you want more information on the races that will be on the ballot, you can go several places to find more information including the following: http://www.ok.gov/elections/documents/Guide10.pdf Kudos to Michael Bates on the Bates Line for posting the link to view a sample ballot in Tulsa County. The sample ballots are listed by precinct number so you can actually see the ballot that will be used for the primary election in your precinct. http://www.tulsacounty.org/tulsacounty/dynamic.aspx?id=4740
Since there is no Democrat running for this seat, in 15 days this election will be over! SPECIAL THANKS to all of you who have stepped up and given more in addition to your initial contribution. If you have not yet contributed, I hope you will now. A contributor slip can be printed directly from my website and mailed with your donation or you can make a donation directly on-line at: http://www.danamurphy.com/donate-supportdana-42.html
I will be giving my all during the last 15 days of this election cycle and plan to work harder than ever in the job, doing the job and remaining on the job as your Corporation Commissioner. Thanks for ALL your efforts on my behalf and most of all for your vote on July 27th!
God Bless,
Your Commissioner, Dana |
