Dear Friends,
"On the Road Again" seems to be a familiar tune that I hum in my head as the miles continue to rack up on my little blue truck! This week, I headed south to Ada and Seminole, out west to Weatherford and Elk City, but also had a few stops a little closer to Edmond during the week as well. I visited our Commission field staff, caught up with familiar faces and met some new faces along the way AND was the surprised recipient of some incredibly generous campaign donations to boot!
Speaking of new faces, one of the new faces for the State GOP is recently elected Chairman Matt Pinnell, although he is no new face to me. I have seen firsthand the kind of person he is and the kind of work ethic he has. I believe he will be a fresh, conservative face and well-spoken voice for the Oklahoma GOP! I look forward to working with him and helping wherever I can.
I am looking forward to the parades that make up part of the Americana and Oklahoma spirit for the 4th of July! If you are in Edmond for the LibertyFest parade or the parade in Bethany on July 3rd, I hope to see you there. Probably this year more so than several in recent memory, I have already been reflecting on what it means to be an American and why it is more important than ever for ALL of us to step up, become involved, informed and ready, willing and able to re-direct the course that this Administration and Congress seem to be taking America. I am incredibly grateful that our Congressional delegation and many, many individuals in Oklahoma are stepping up to do our part!

As far as current issues pending at the Commission, there are many, but I will mention just a few which you might want to review. Two of the largest utility cases currently pending at the Commission involve the rollout of more smart meters across the state and further development of wind farms in western Oklahoma. You can view filings in these cases at: http://www.occeweb.com/SmartMeter/SmartMeter.html or at http://www.occeweb.com/Windfarm/windfarm.html On the oil and gas side, some of you may have been following the recent proposed unitization case involving about 27 sections of land in Coal County. The recommendation of the Administrative Law Judge in that matter can be viewed at http://www.occeweb.com/ap/newfield.pdf The Commissioners will be considering the recommendations made in upcoming weeks and months ahead as we will ultimately be making the final decisions in these matters.
Also, for those of you living in the 918 Area Code, I plan to continue to remind you about upcoming changes that will affect your current and future dialing patterns. You can help by becoming informed on what will be happening and letting your friends and family in the area know too. More information can be obtained right from the Commission website at: http://www.occeweb.com/918-539%20Schedule%20FAQs.pdf
918 Area Code Exhaust Update - You may have received or will be receiving a notice in your July telephone bill from your telephone provider that gives you information regarding the start of the permissive dialing period for 10-digit dialing on August 7, 2010. This means you may continue to use 7 digits or you can start using 10 digits in making a local call up until March 5, 2011 when 10 digit dialing will be required. There will be no change in what is a local call or a long distance call.
If you are interested in a yard sign, push cards or bumper stickers, those will be available now at the State GOP headquarters and at most local county party headquarters as well. You can also contact us about these materials at

Please help us push into the final 30 days by displaying a yard sign or bumper sticker or handing out push cards to your neighbors and friends!
In 30 days, this election will be over since there is no Democratic opponent on the ballot. Print, radio and television advertising will continue to be an important part of my re-election efforts. I hope I can continue to count on you to have the dollars I need to win re-election. If you have not yet contributed, I hope you will now and if you have contributed, but you can give a little more, I hope you will do so. A contributor slip can be printed directly from my website and mailed with your donation or you can make a donation directly on-line at: http://www.danamurphy.com/donate-supportdana-42.html
I believe I must continue to work hard to stay on the job as your Corporation Commissioner. With your help, once again, we will win in 2010!
God Bless,
Your Commissioner, Dana |
