Given the energy crisis this country is in, the role of corporation
commissioner in Oklahoma has added importance.
The commission, though, always
has been important to consumers, and that’s why this editorial board endorses
Dana Murphy as the Republican candidate for the contested seat on the state
Corporation Commission.
Murphy ran unsuccessfully six years ago, but she was
a good candidate then, and still is. She has a background in energy, and she has
worked as an administrative law judge for the Corporation Commission.
Her
opponent in Tuesday’s primary, Rob Johnson, is a state representative, and he,
too, is a good candidate. However, we believe Murphy can identify better with
Oklahomans’ energy and transportation interests and appreciate better their
needs.
The winner of Tuesday’s primary will face incumbent Jim Roth in the
general election.
